DANCE WALK away homophobia, transphobia and biphobia

On May 17, 2018, Raise Up Fundraising and PFLAG St. John's Chapter presented the 5th Annual DanceWalk. The event was held in recognition of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (and against all forms of hate towards all members of LGBTQ+ communities).

Participants dance walked their way down Water Street from Harbourside Park to Rocket Bakery as music played and passers-by waved their hands or honked their horns in support. At Rocket people were then given a chance to share their reasons for walking and talk about their experiences in a moment of reflection and unity.

DANCE WALK away homophobia, transphobia and biphobia

On May 17, 2017, Raise Up Fundraising and the Aids Committee of NL presented the 4th Annual DanceWalk. The event was held in recognition of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (and against all forms of hate towards all members of LGBTQ+ communities).

The event featured four speakers from the LGBTQ+ community: Julia Barnes, Jasmine Camp, Adrian House, and Kimberly Offspring. Their talks centered around their personal experiences, and offered ideas on how to make St. John's safer and more inclusive. Jasmine even graced the audience with a poem. Following the talks, the group dance-walked downtown, making a special trip down George Street, and ended off at Rocket Bakery for a dance party. A big thank you to everyone that came to support the event!
